a visual concert of modern madrigals
with music by Karl-Heinz Stockhausen, Anthony Fiumara and Seung-Won Oh
Stimmung (I) is about the human voice: its beauty, its fragility, the extraordinary antics it can perform, its ability to touch your soul. Centuries ago, it was in the madrigals of Palestrina, Gesualdo and Monteverdi that the vocal arts had their heyday. In the Stimmung series, over the coming years, Silbersee will perform equally beautiful ‘young madrigals’, transforming the concert hall into a secular cathedral of sound.
Unmissable in this first edition is of course the now classic work Stimmung by Karlheinz Stockhausen. In this fascinating, minimalist composition, with a sound palette developing layer by layer, the listener gradually discovers ‘the souls’ of the voices. There will also be recent works by the Dutch composer Anthony Fiumara (Graduales) and the Korean Seung-Won Oh (Recollection for ChoHee). All three pieces can be experienced as prayer. Silbersee presents this programme as an evening ritual of moods and voices.
